Working in Jackson, Mississipi, it was a short commute to the Vicksburg Military Park. The battle was won the same day as Gettysburg, and is not as well known. The park reflects the importance of the battle at the time. Lincoln considered it the key to taking the South. States both North and South have memorials here. There are more memorials than any other military park. The veterans of the Civil War considered it there most important memorial. It reflects the Spirit of the Union. It is where we became Americans. It is only fitting that the winning general may be the most under rated general and President in American history. U.S. Grant made an immortal mark on the character of America, by his victory of the Vicksburg Campaign. This sent one of my Grandfathers to an unpleasant vist to Camp Douglas. It is a moving visit, and will give you an appreciation of the valor of the soldiers, both North and South.

Here are 3 pictures from the Jackson Mississippi Zoo. I always felt like Radiation Therapist were a lot like Otters. They go at incredible speed when working, glide through their own domain with compassion and ease, and are slightly awkward out of their element. This is an Amur Leopard, and has only about 40 or 50 in the wild. Rare ,beautiful, and quietly powerful, it reminds me how much I miss my wife 500 miles from home. I know, I picked the wrong audience to whine to. At least, I have Chili. A white peacock, proving simple beauty is as powerful as gaudy coloring.
